Section 1
Okay, thus begins Section 1. We are all familiar with the different divisions of government, having lived under them and participated in the Democratic Process. Remember, this was written over 200 years ago and is still valid and practiced today. You can’t say that about any other government across the world.
Section 1: All legislative powers granted herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.
This is known as a “bicameral legislature.” It quelled the debates between those that wanted a set number of representatives per state and those who wanted representation based on population.
As to who came up with this system (I think James Madison had something to do with it, as he is referred to as the Father of the Constitution), the where and when and other “Founding Fathers” involved, it really doesn’t matter and I don’t care. What matters is the staying power of the system.
I’ll say it again: money corrupts the purity of the election process which favors the wealthy as officeholders. But then again the principles of true Communism would never work in the real world and never have, resulting in dictatorship by committee like in the USSR, or an autocracy or one ultimate ruler, as in…well take your pick. Any political system is corruptible by basic human selfishness!
The best we can do is hitch our good intentions to the star of progressive progress and hang on for the ride.
