American civilization
Hello, happy Monday everyone. Or Tuesday for those in the Far East.
Today, I want to talk about International dominance throughout known world history. The height of civilization’s civilizations. All were not necessarily civil, but they, at the very least had a strong organization. The way it has gone in history is a crest and trough of organized civilization and, its child, imperialism. Egypt and Mesopotamia never got that far in terms of territory, but definitely fough like wildmen to gain and retain said territory. The Greeks were the same.
The Roman Empire broke the mold, observe on this nifty clickable map to see the greatest length and breadth of Rome. The territorial borders were fluid and eventually were lost because the Roman soldiers were in constant battle with the Gauls, Visigoths, Celts, and other “barbarians.” Eventually, due to infighting, civil war and other power struggles, the whole thing collapsed, and existed on with Constantinople (Istanbul) as its new capital. The Holy Roman Empire, the last remnant after centuries of feudalism and micro-territorial claims, lasted until the 19th century, when it then became Germany. This essay explains the gradual dissolving of the Roman Empire from the medieval times until the days of Napoleon.
Then there was the British Empire. The saying was “The Sun Never Sets on the British Empire.” It was true. They were a power-hungry bunch. This map shows how much territory was taken in the name of the King of England.
Everyone is familiar with the map of the United States. It is more of a “hostile takeover” in a business than just claiming ownership of a territory. Russia tried that with Poland and Afghanistan when it was the USSR and that went over like a lead balloon.
Is America an empire. I don’t know, you can have your opinions about that. I feel like Those in Power see America as a business venture. The name I came up for that is “Corporatia.” It’s a business with you and me as stockholders. A business with a massive standing Army.
Remember: Every Empire has fallen due to mass opposition. Who knows what the future holds for this organization.
